Joseph Rockwell & Mary Wood
Joseph Rockwell was probably born in Connecticut in the mid-1660s. In his 20’s, he was the town drummer, using his instrument to announce town and church meetings. He married Mary Wood and died in Norwalk in 1715/16.
Mary remarried a man not known to the locals, which led to fear that the Rockwell children’s inheritance from their father might be squandered. The court named a guardian to protect their rights, but it is clear from later records that their stepfather won the children’s love and respect
Mary probably died sometime before 3 February 1749/50
